Hycide: Fear Less - Photograher Akintola Hanif Opens Studio in Newark

"Much like Gordon Parks, Jamel Shabazz and other lens legends before him, Hanif no doubt represents the next generation of truly talented photographers. Honest, introspective and gripping, his razor sharp imagery bears testiment to the beauty, and the beast that is inner-city America."

Philly or PoP

We're looking forward to heading down to the "City of Brotherly Love" this weekend to host the next installment of our "PoP Up Experience Shops." Philly PoP is taking place on Sunday and definitely promises to be GREAT event. Be sure to come through to do a bit of shopping, grab a bite to eat, check out some art or just chill with some good people.

*FYI* Philly PoP will make for an excellent road trip. So, if you don't live in Philly fuel up the car or rent a whip for the weekend, you'll be glad you did and be mad if you miss out on Philly PoP.

We're Heading To Austin...

Vote for my PanelPicker Idea!

The Ladies of Harriet's & Team SHAE are heading cross-country to spread the goodness that is HAE... well that's the plan anyway and... WE NEED YOUR HELP TO MAKE IT HAPPEN ;O)

We've pitched a panel to be part of the South By Southwest (SXSW) Festival next year and we need your vote to ensure it makes the festival program schedule.

Registering with the site and casting your vote for our panel will take less than 5 minutes. The voting link and panel details are below.

**** FYI... You will need to register for panel picker before casting your vote. Just clicking the thumbs up will not count as a vote unless you first sign up. But don't worry you are not signing up for a mailing list and will not receive any communications from SXSW or panelpicker other than logging in instructions.

Here's The Link To Vote: http://u.nu/95wx

PANEL TOPIC:
T.I.A. (This Is Africa): Marketing 21st Century African Music

Description:

African music isn't just Fela. There is a new cadre of African artists who are mixing their own music and culture with rock and hip hop to form something new. Who are they? More importantly, how are they bridging continents and cultures and building audiences stateside?

Abena Koomsom Performance @ Celebrate Brooklyn

We were super excited when Ghanaian writer, educator and performer Abena Koomsomn who starred in Fela The Musical commissioned Harriet's Alter Ego to create a piece for her performance at Celebrate Brooklyn in Prospect Park last month.

Her performance was absolutely amazing and we were truly honored to have her represent HAE in front of a crowd over 2,000 deep.
